Second Burial Ground

The Second Burial Ground was established in 1794 on Montvale Avenue.

The First Parish was the administrator for both the First and Second Burial Ground until they sold both Burial Grounds to the Town in 1824 for $162.50.

In July of 1847, Town Clerk Nathan Wyman and Dr. Benjamin Cutter walked through the graveyard and copied all of the inscriptions...nearly four hundred interments were recorded.

As the Woburn Historical Society approaches its

20th anniversary in 2026,

we proudly recognize

John and Kathy Flaherty

for their unwavering support since our founding in 2006.

 â€‹â€‹

Their generosity has

sustained our mission, provided the Society with a home in the Burdett Mansion since 2010, and enriched the City of Woburn through their continued philanthropy.
